Make a Donation

Literacy Volunteers of Santa Fe needs your contributions in order to expand English as a Second Language instruction to groups and reading tutoring to individuals. Please support the only program in the community to offer these services. Our volunteer tutors are astounding and go all over the county to work with the adult students who need their assistance. Because volunteers are the heart of our literacy program, our services are very cost effective.  Your tax-deductible contribution can go a long way toward sustaining LVSF; in fact, 100% of your gift goes to our fully accredited program, not to administrative costs.

• $1,000 will create four new community tutoring groups
• $500 will help establish a new workplace tutoring site for employees to study English
• $250 will provide five training scholarships for volunteer tutors
• $150 will buy six instructional dictionaries
• $100 will allow us to purchase testing materials for students
• $75 will buy books and workbooks for a student and tutor team to start up
• $50 will provide a white board, markers, and an instructional picture dictionary for a group
• $35 will purchase materials to train a new tutor

Grants and foundation giving, the lifeblood of our organization, have been severely curtailed recently. LVSF’s programs are integral to strengthening Santa Fe’s economy and supporting working families. Our programs help improve our students’ quality of life and create a greater sense of community.  

Many of our students are the people who wait on you or prepare food in restaurants; clean houses, hotel rooms, and schools; work in the grocery stores; do landscaping; and struggle to survive. Socioeconomic problems such as poverty, unemployment, crime, and human rights abuses cannot be solved without addressing the need for adults to have strong reading, writing and math skills.  Literacy skills are a key component for life change. Give the gift of literacy!

Become a Member of the LVSF Board

Are you passionate about literacy in your community? Do you enjoy talking to people about programs that address this issue? Would you feel comfortable asking people for donations to such programs? If so, consider becoming a member of the LVSF Board of Directors. General meetings are once a month, with committee meetings scheduled as needed. Become a member today and make a difference in the Santa Fe community.
