Literacy Volunteers Win Santa Fe Community Foundation Silver Piñon Award

Close to 700 members of the community gathered at the Lensic Performing Arts Center on September 28, 2006 to celebrate the outstanding work of five nonprofits from Northern New Mexico honored by the Santa Fe Community Foundation. To mark the Foundation’s 25th anniversary, Literacy Volunteers of Santa Fe received a special Silver Anniversary Piñon Award in recognition of more than two decades of teaching English as a Second Language to some 8,000 immigrants and their families. The award included a statuette and a $25,000 unrestricted grant.
